Learning your face shape will determine which styles would look best on your face, making your shopping experience a much easier and confident investment. Here are 6 primary face shapes and the type of eyeglass frames that look best on each shape.

  • OVAL - An oval face is proportionally balanced, allowing for the most flexibility in frame options. To maintain the natural balance of an oval face, look for frames that are as wide as (or wider than) the broadest part of the face. Frame styles for oval shape: Square, Aviator, and Rectangle.

 

  • HEART- A heart shaped face has a wide top and a narrow bottom, to reduce the apparent width of the top of the face choose frame shapes that are wider at the bottom. Round frames can make angular heart shape appear softer, while rectangles frames add balance. Best frames for heart shaped: Round,Geometric,Rectangle and Aviator.

 

  • SQUARE- A square face has a strong jaw and a broad forehead, and the width and length of the face have roughly the same proportions. Frames that have more width than depth and narrow ovals work best. For men a square face is about adding balance and structure using oval or rectangle frames. women need cat eye or round to add softness.   • DIAMOND- A diamond shaped face are narrow at the forehead and jawline, and have broad cheekbones. This is the rarest face shape.   • ROUND- A round face shape has curved lines with the width and length in the same proportions and no angles. Men need square, rectangle, or aviator styles to offset roundness. Women should go large and bold which draws attention to the eyes and make the face appear smaller. Best for round shaped: Square or Rectangle.

 

  • BASED-DOWN TRIANGLE- A base-down triangular face shape has narrow forehead and widens at the cheek and chin areas. To add width and emphasize the narrow upper third of the face add frames that are heavily accented with color and detail on the top of frame. Best styles: Cat eye
